I first began learning about Facilitation Wellington Dufferin when my mother Judith Rosenberg began working for them less than 1 year ago at age 75. She was given the opportunity to work with a very special group of individuals. In the beginning the work was hard the technology to work at the agency was a bit of a barrier. Soon my mother began to excel and began to see progress in the individuals she supports. There weren't times without challenges but, she and they began to thrive.
I run my own peer support & creativity program called COMING FULL CIRCLE, and I am a person with lived experience so I have first hand knowledge of the work my mother does. She has always said she wants to be known as someone,'of service'. This is her calling and it is needed very much in our and others communities in Ontario . These special people supported by people like my mother within FWD are being threatened by the Ford government's short sightedness, tax grabbing, self-serving ,egotistical behaviour, and it must be stopped. This is people's lives we are tampering with! They aren't able to stand up for themselves because of their disability. They do not have a voice. So it is here that we as a people can stand upto Ford and his cronies for the most vulnerable in our society. Because a society can only be judged by how well they take care of their most vulnerable. I recently watched the documentary about Fred Rogers of The People in Your Neighbourhood and I was struck by his strength to champion the littlest children in our lives. He stood upto to the powers that wished to dismantle Public Television. He won by explaning only in a few short minutes the need ,and won ,and resulted in getting the 20 million to continue. I think we only need a significantly less amount to run Facilitation in this province. So keep fighting the good fight and don't give in to these' thugs' who are taking the rug out from under our most vulnerable. Sincerely, Jay S.
