My name is Marty West. I have been a client of Independant Faciliation.
The service is desperately needing its funding conitinued. It dramatically helped me during some of the most tragic and helpless times of my life. I have Cerebral Palsy and was in a very troubling housing situation.
My life needs had always been taken care of by my mother. When I was 36 years old, my mother got very sick (pneumonia and needed to recover) and I had to be placed in a nursing home during this time. This lasted 15 months. She got better and recovered.
I needed to get out of there (and back closer to my mother) and it was my Independant Facilitator that made this happen. I was placed in an independant livivng situation, but unfortunatley, the care here was worse than the nursing home. While waiting for a new living arragment to present itself, my mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
She died on November 9, 2017. It was devastating on two fronts, my mother was gone and I needed a better place to live.
My faclititaor helped me move into the place I am in now. I am happy to say that I have found a place that I call home.
I hope that the Ford government will seriously read this testimony of the impact that Independat facilitation has had on my life and many others. To not reinstate this funding would only cause more problems. This funding is very valuable and has to continue.
Thank you, Marty West
